The EMERGING JOURNEY is a life changing discipleship and spiritual formation process for adult believers. This set of experiences and relationships will guide participants into a personal exploration of three primary questions in their lives: Who is God? Who am I? What does God desire to do through me?

How does this Emerging Journey process actually work?

A DIVERSE GROUP OF PEOPLE... Typically groups are made up of 6-12 people who include men and women, young and old, experienced leaders and those just beginning to explore their potential.

OVER EIGHT MONTHS... Groups typically begin in September and meet together through April or May.

WEEKLY SMALL GROUP GATHERINGS... Participants will come together in weekly, 2-hour small group meetings, guided by a trained facilitator, that encourage accountable, safe relationships, thoughtful reflection, honest conversation, and prayer.

REGULAR STUDY AND PREPARATION... Group members spend 2-4 hours each week reading and prayerfully reflecting on the content presented in the manual, a book of the Bible, and the recommended text for each stage. They also spend time practicing spiritual disciplines and reflecting on how what they are learning is shaping their own lives and the lives of people they know.

FOUR STAGES TO THE JOURNEY... There are four manuals that guide the four stages to the Emerging Journey. In addition to regular Bible reading these four manuals will launch the participants’ reflection and conversation from week to week.

  • Stage 1: Biblical Foundations (browse sample materials)
  • Stage 2: Personal Foundations
  • Stage 3: Relational Foundations
  • Stage 4: Practical Foundations

A TRAINED FACILITATOR…Each group is guided by a person(s) who has been equipped and prepared to facilitate The Emerging Journey process. Learn more about Facilitator Training Retreats…

MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS... Participants are encouraged to identify a mentor or spiritual friend who they meet with twice a month for conversation and support.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FURTHER SHAPING...Groups have the option to come together for additional opportunities to learn as well…retreats and workshops designed to enhance what they are learning through their weekly sessions and personal study and reflection.
