THE EQUIPPING EXPERIENCE

The Equipping Experience is an 8-month experience intended for those who desire to learn and enhance the skills associated with the work of Christian leadership. It will build on the participants’ discoveries from The Emerging Journey by continuing to ask questions of intimacy with God, identity as God’s loved children, and our unique kingdom responsibility.

How does this process work?

TAKING ANOTHER STEP…Participants will be challenged to take a next step in their development as disciples and leaders, as men and women of holiness and influence by focusing on the ways they can uniquely contribute to the work of leadership wherever they are placed.

A DIVERSE GROUP OF PEOPLE... Typically groups are made up of 5-10 people who include men and women, young and old, experienced leaders and those just beginning to explore their leadership potential.

OVER EIGHT MONTHS...Groups typically begin in September and meet together through April or May.

WEEKLY SMALL GROUP GATHERINGS...Participants will come together in weekly, 2-hour small group meetings, guided by a trained facilitator, that encourage accountable, safe relationships, thoughtful reflection, honest conversation, and prayer.

REGULAR STUDY AND PREPARATION...Group members spend 2-4 hours each week reading and prayerfully reflecting on the content presented in the manual, a book of the Bible, and the recommended text for each stage. They also spend time practicing spiritual disciplines and reflecting on how what they are learning is shaping their own lives and the lives of people they know.

FOUR STAGES TO THE JOURNEY... There are four manuals that guide the four stages to The Equipping Experience. These four manuals will launch the participants’ leadership learning from week to week.

  • Stage 1: Direction (browse sample materials)
  • Stage 2: Team
  • Stage 3: Strategy
  • Stage 4: Process

LEADERSHIP LEARNING EXPERIENCES…Participants will be challenged to practice the concepts and skills they are being exposed to within the process through team serving and learning experiences  and individual projects.

A TRAINED FACILITATOR…Each group is guided by a person(s) who has been equipped and prepared to facilitate The Equipping Experience process. Learn more about Facilitator Training Retreats…

MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS... Participants are encouraged to identify a mentor or spiritual friend who they meet with twice a month for conversation and support.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FURTHER SHAPING... Groups have the option to come together for additional learning opportunities…retreats and workshops designed to enhance what they are learning through their weekly sessions and personal study, reflection, and practice.
